Romantic Radiance Palette
My first time using the palette I applied 2-3 layers of the eye shades to my lids with a flat brush before moving on to my crease. The pigmentation was, well let’s just say there was none. I filmed a tutorial but after viewing the footage I realized that it looked like I was patting brushes on my eyes with no product on them. As you can see from the photo below, many of the eye shades blended into my skin tone while the others gave the slightest hint of color. Since the shadows aren’t very pigmented, the black shadow looked more like a dark grey when applied to my lash line. I did, however, think the brow powders were a lovely shade.
The blushes were much more pigmented, offered a lovely color selection and glided effortlessly over my cheeks. I secretly wished the shadows were as pigmented as the blush. My initial thoughts on the palette were meh! UNTIL… I watched Chloe Morello explain her palette on YouTube where she referred to them as blush, glows and matte definers. She stated “the glows are intended to be highlighters but can also be used as eyeshadow or for layering over the blush if you want more shimmer”
Unlike the packaging that refers to them as eye shades, Chloe clearly states they are highlighters that can be used as eyeshadows. Equipped with this information I felt far less disappointed, so the following day I decided to give the palette another shot. Here are 3 things I did differently and recommend for achieving the best results. Once I made these adjustments I was much happier with the palette.
- When applying the glow shades to your lids as shadow be sure to dip your flat brush into the product then spray it with fixing spray. This will add a bit more intensity and help with visibility on the lids. I like using Elf Makeup Mist & Set for this purpose as well as for applying loose pigments.
- Use the glow shades in place of your highlighter, they pair beautifully with the blush shades. You can also apply them to the bridge of your nose and cupids bow.
- Use the glow shades on your collar bone, shoulders etc. for a lovely all over glow.
When looking at my skin outside under the California sunshine, I couldn’t deny that the over all look was romantic. The palette definitely gave a radiant lit from within glow to my skin.
Lip Icing
In addition to the palette, Pixi teamed up with Chloe to create a Lip Icing which is essentially a lip gloss with 3D glimmer that can be used on bare lips or on top of lip colour. It looks rose gold in the packing but when applied to the lips it gives a hint of color while the shimmer gives a luscious effect to the lips. The gloss isn’t sticky, wears comfortably and does an amazing job at glistening in the sun.
You may be thinking, look at that fantastic editing of a perfectly placed sparkle on the lip gloss swatch. I wish I could take the credit but sadly I just don’t have those skills. That sparkle literally appeared when taking a photo in direct sunlight, it’s really pretty isn’t it?
I chose to wear the gloss on bare lips and really enjoyed the effect it gave so I’m looking forward to wearing it as a topper over a lip color.
Final Thoughts….
If you’re someone who doesn’t enjoy heavy makeup and wants to create a radiant makeup look with a wash of color, you may enjoy this Pixi X Chloe Morello collab. I can’t say that I’ll reach for it often but I may grab for it when wanting to create an “I barely tried but look radiant” look. As for the gloss, I immediately threw it into my makeup bag.
